What if you had invested?
Pick an asset, a starting year and an amount. See what you'd have today, in lei or another currency, after exchange-rate changes and after inflation.
An estimate, not an offer or a recommendation. Actual terms depend on the bank and on your situation.
How it's calculated
Each month, the amount invested buys the asset at that month's average price, expressed in the currency you chose. At the end, everything you bought is valued at the average price of the last completed month. Prices are converted between currencies at the monthly average BNR rate, so the result includes exchange-rate changes.
The annual return is the one that, applied to each amount from the moment it was invested, leads to the final value. For the result after inflation, each amount invested is restated in today's prices using the harmonised index of consumer prices for Romania published by Eurostat. In a currency other than the leu, the index is converted at each month's rate, so the result still shows what the money buys in Romania.
The S&P 500 is the price index, without dividends: the actual return of a fund tracking it has historically been about 1.5–2 percentage points a year higher. The simulation leaves out trading fees, management costs and taxes.
Past performance does not guarantee future results. The simulation shows what happened, not what will happen.
